SANITATION DEPARTMENT

The Berne Sanitation Department is responsible for weekly residential and business trash pickup, twice yearly heavy trash pickup and the distribution of dumpster rentals.

As established by city ordinance, trash must be placed curbside by 7:00 am on the day of your pick up in a leak-proof container of 30 - gallon capacity with a maximum weight of 60 pounds when full.

TRASH PICK-UP SCHEDULE

Heavy Trash Schedule

Spring - week of April 20th - 24th, 2026.
Fall - week of September 21st - 25th, 2026.
Place all items curbside by 7:00 a.m., the morning
of your regular trash pick-up.

Items NOT Accepted (including, but not limited to)
Tires, Refrigerators, Freezers, TV's, Paint, Biohazard Items (such as batteries), and other misc. items at the City's discretion.
No hazardous materials allowed.
