Berne City Hall Offices will be open, by appointment only, Thursday, July 23, 2026, and Friday, July 24, 2026, from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Please call (260) 589-8526, to schedule an appointment. The City's utility payment box will be available and is located at the southwest corner of the Berne City Hall parking lot.

Downtown Berne milling and paving projects will begin July 13, 2026. The City’s Contractor will do their best to minimize disruptions to local businesses and residents. Please use caution in these areas and expect street closures. Thank you for your patience.

Code 91.52 NOISE REGULATIONS (LEGAL FIREWORK INFORMATION) -
(7) Sounds associated with the use of legal consumer fireworks during the following days and times:
(a) Between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and two hours after sunset on June 29, June 30, July 1, July 2, July 3, July 5, July 6, July 7, July 8 and
July 9;
(b) Between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 midnight on July 4th.

Berne, Indiana (05/05/26) - The intersection of Hedricks St. and Van Buren St., located beside the Berne City Hall Building will be temporarily closed starting on May 5 through approximately May 8, 2026, for the sanitary sewer project. Watch for temporary street closures in these surrounding areas as the sanitary sewer project progresses. Please use extreme caution when in this area.
Berne, Indiana (05/04/26) - The alley located behind Kaup Pharmacy will be temporarily closed starting on May 4, 2026, for the sanitary sewer project. During this time, please make special arrangements with Kaup Pharmacy for medication pick up and/or delivery. South Jefferson Street between Main Street and West Franklin Street will be temporarily closed starting May 4, 2026. Watch for temporary street closures on West Franklin Street as the sanitary sewer project progresses. Please use extreme caution when in this area.
Berne, Indiana (03/19/26) - Sprunger Street between W. Water St. and W Main St. will be closed starting March 19, 2026, for the sanitary sewer project. The alley located between the Berne Post Office and the Berne Public Library will also be temporarily closed starting on March 19, 2026. During this time, the mail drop-off boxes will also be closed while work is being completed.
Residents can use the USPS lobby mail drop-off box, if needed. Please use extreme caution when in this area.
Berne, Indiana (04/24/26) - The City of Berne recently celebrated over three decades as a Tree City USA community! In honor of National Arbor Day, the Berne Tree Board planted a tree at the city's maintenance building located at 865 Berne Street. Please help us take a moment to THANK our citizens, volunteers, and local leaders, for their continuous efforts to benefit our entire community by planting one tree at a time, which will continue to grow for generations to come. THANK YOU!
